Nothing beats the taste and smell of a golden waffle, but you'll need a solid waffle maker to get there (unless you want to wait in line at a diner). The Good Housekeeping Institute Kitchen Appliances and Technology Lab whipped up 424 batches of homemade and boxed mix waffles to find the best waffle maker for you and your family.
If your profile is private / stock photo I will not accept you. Please contact me using my website below. I also don't add level 0/1 accounts. I have been a level designer for Source engine since October 2005. I really enjoy helping other people release their levels and content. Feel free to add me if you have a question! We focused our evaluations on the two most common styles in the U.S.: traditional and Belgian. Traditional waffles are thinner with shallower wells, while Belgian waffles arethicker, fluffier waffles with deeper pockets. Both come in round and square waffle maker shapes, so you can pick based upon which style suits your taste preferences.
If looks matter to you most, consider a rotating waffle maker. Because you flip the iron over as it bakes, the batter can become more evenly distributed over the grates. That being said, if you really want picture-perfect waffles, try our Lab's even-heating hack: After pouring waffle batter over the hot grates, use a rubber spatula to gently (and quickly) distribute the batter evenly across the surface before closing the waffle maker's lid. You'll never have to eat a waffle with absent, sorry-looking edges again!
Now, because you can't toss your new electrical appliance in the sink with soapy water, here's how to clean a waffle maker: The good news is that waffle makers have drastically improved in recent years — nearly every model now comes with nonstick cooking plates, which means that (with proper upkeep) you won't be using a toothpick to dislodge burnt-on waffle bits. We recommend allowing your iron to cool first, then wiping the plates clean with a dry paper towel. If any grime remains, spot clean them with a damp cloth or let a bit of cooking oil sit on the grime for a few minutes before wiping away. And avoid using nonstick cooking spray, as this stuff will cook onto the plates and become nearly impossible to remove. The result: No more nonstick coating.
